Google Maps service (new v3)
User log in
This service provides the ability to monitor real-time traffic, the movement of ships in ports or areas of the AIStracker website. You also have the ability to get detailed information about current ships, such as their location, speed, course, navigational status, IMO code, MMSI, name of vessel, as well as additional information about the time and port of arrival, history tracks, etc.
The positions of the ships is displayed on two-dimensional map of Google Maps with markers of vessels and their contours of the real size of vessels. Update dynamic information of the ships (position, course, speed) occurs by default every 8 seconds.
Requirements and recommendations
Below is a list of web browsers from the "fast" to the least recommended for use with this service:
1 Google Chrome from Google. It's a best choice for the map navigation and data processing then working with AIStracker site. The latest version can be found on Google - download Chrome.
2 Safari version 4.0 and above from Apple. At almost the speed of work not inferior to Chrome, and where it may even exceed it. The latest version is available at Apple website - download Safari.
3 Mozilla Firefox version 3.0 or higher. Good speed of service, excellent work with the map. The latest version is available at Mozilla - download Firefox.
4 Opera version 9.0 or higher (preferably 9.6+). Very fast web browser in the transfer and processing of data, very quickly work with the map. He could stand in the first place if not for some problems then works with Google Maps. The latest version is available at Opera - download Opera.
5 Internet Explorer (IE) versions 7.0 and higher (tested with 6.0 and 7.0). Performance of work is far below the above browsers. The latest version 8.0 can be found on Microsoft's site.
Important:If there is an opportunity, we strongly recommend not to use in working with AIStrackers Internet Explorer, especially IE 6.0, because of very low perfomance when working with a map and data processing.
Difference with other similar systems
First of all, this service is different from the other very small update period (default value is 8 seconds). In other systems, this period is usually 60-90 seconds. In addition, through a unique "engine", updates are applied only for those vessels, the dynamic data that actually changed. Also, if possible, optimization and compression of the data occurs. In other systems, as a rule, all ships updated on the map. For example, for ~ 200 visible vessels and compression of data: the initial loading of data 9-10 kb, data updates (for the 8-second period), 2-4 kb, depending on traffic intensity.
